what day is it?

I'm freshly back from vacation -- the sort of vacation where you lose track of the days.

The first leg of our trip to the Grand Canyon was super. The drive from Vegas is surprisingly easy and pretty quick all things considered. It's about 4.5 hours going and around 3.5 coming back (going down to sea level is much quicker than climbing).

Our lodge was rustic (borderline TOO rustic for my taste), but the Grand Canyon made up for the accommodations. Ben's mom, dad and aunt met us there so we had family to share our adventure with. We rarely had cell phone signals and not a computer in sight.

Vegas was, well, Vegas. Not much changes there. Ben was there for half a day so we got to have a night out with dinner and drinks before the girls arrived Sunday. Highlights were definitely pool time and party time.

The sun was absolutely scorch-your-skin-off-hot so being outside, and not in the water, was close to impossible for more than a few minutes at a time. Thank goodness for the monorail, which I highly recommend as annoying as it is to traipse through casino after casino to get out to the strip.

I'll post photos once I get everything off the camera. Between the sun, lack of sleep, alcohol and dark casinos, my brain is fried. *sigh* Re-entry after vacation is always so hard.
