retraction

Literally! The tooth we thought Miles had is gone. I swear it was there. Ben saw it too. Now it's gone. Weird, right?

tooth

Miles has a tooth! Well, he has a tiny white speck to be exact that is signaling a tooth-to-be. We were suspicious Sat. morning because he seemed fussy and out of sorts. I was surprised to see it when I looked! At first I thought it was a little bit of milk residue or a cereal bittle. It appears to be a lateral incisor (the bottom left tooth next to his two middle teeth).

The bad news: he's not into his bottles or solids. The good news: he's nursing about the same and sleeping well (I am probably jinxing it...). He did take his bottles better today, and I'm hoping he does okay at school tomorrow. I keep telling myself he will he if/when he's hungry. Although this isn't a very comforting thought when I'm at work feeling guilty that he's in pain and not eating. Hopefully it'll be fine!

peek-a-boo

We made a little progress on the third mealtime solid this week. He ate well some days and not so great others (he refused his "mixed veggies" at school on Friday; too many peas no doubt). He looooooves all fruits and oatmeal ("just like mommy" based on my fondness for sweets and carbs, according to daddy).

Our big adventure this weekend: puffs. We tried the banana/mango flavored little stars and he enjoyed playing with it, but not eating it. He gagged and spit it out. We'll try again next week.

Peek-a-boo is a big favorite right now, as well as tickling. Miles giggles so much, and we just crack up.

We made it out of the house a few times this weekend since it was in the 30's. Miles loves to look around and breathe fresh air. Can't wait for Spring!

mama

Miles has been babbling a lot, but only the occasional "m" sound until this weekend. He was making long "mmmmmmmm" sounds with his lower lip really tucked under. I encouraged him hoping for a mama, and he obliged by saying it twice today! Yay!

We had a few others firsts this weekend. We did a "baby swap" with our new mom and dad friends, Julie and JD. Miles played really well with their little boy, Michael. We were gone for about an hour (though it felt much longer), and Miles was a very good boy. Big relief. We all agreed that two babies at once is a job requiring the full attention of two adults. Ha! Good thing we each only had one at a time.

We tried a third solids feeding today, and it went pretty well. Miles ate some carrots (with one spoonful of peas blended in) and continued to explore his sippy cup. He's mostly chewing on it, playing with it and throwing it so far.

Miles also got up on all fours today (twice!), and we're wondering when he might creep or crawl. He's definitely thinking about it, and we try to entice him with strategically placed toys.

Another five day work week tomorrow...whoever thought of this five days on, two days off nonsense is evil.
