bump watch - 35 & 36 weeks

My coworkers threw me a shower, part 3 last weekend:

And here's me today - big, hot and cranky. I've felt pretty good until it got super hot and humid last weekend.

class, part two

We finished our childbirth classes tonight! It was helpful prep and definitely alleviated some anxiety and fear of the unknown. I'm still surprised none of the class covered infant care. There is another class, Mommy and Me (what about dads?), that covers some basics, but not sure we'll take that or not.

I need to pack my hospital bag this weekend...I have the basic hospital checklist, but let me know if there's something you took/didn't take that you'd like to share.

baby shower, part 2

Big thank you to Nikki, Natalie and Erika for throwing a wonderful shower for all the Chicago-area girls. We enjoyed delicious food, including fun treats like mini cupcakes and mimosas (mommy even had a little and baby approved).

nursery update

A lot is happening in the baby's room. We decided to tear up the carpet and see what was underneath...nice hardwood, it turns out! It took Ben about an hour to do that last weekend thanks to the help of one of my wonderful coworkers. And little did we know that was the easy part.

On Saturday we rented a floor sander. It was one of the most difficult things we've ever moved in our 11 years together spanning 4 apartments, 1 house and 2 cross-country moves. It took us about 2 hours to figure out how to get it upstairs. With that obstacle achieved, Ben started sanding...hours later it looked pretty amazing. He finished the edges yesterday and added a light stain. Beautiful!! I can't wait to get everything back in the baby's room and start decorating. Pictures coming soon!!

While Ben was working his butt off in the baby's room, I attended another fabulous shower. We're having so much fun celebrating baby Libert!! I feel so blessed to have such amazing friends! More shower photos coming too...

Childbirth prep classes start tomorrow! No idea what to expect. I hope they are informative (but not overwhelming if that's possible?) and that we can get to know some other parents-to-be. It would be nice to have some other moms to hang out with this summer!

We had a good 32 week check-up yesterday. The baby is still moving around a lot which is nice. Apparently he/she hasn't run out of room yet. My ribs occasionally feel like they are going to explode, but doing pretty well otherwise so far.

I'm so looking forward to our first baby shower this weekend!
